HARNEY LANE HANDBOOK TO HOSTESS GIFTS

You just got home from work, you change into your holiday best as quickly as possible, and you’re just about to walk out the door when you briefly remember that you didn’t pick up a hostess gift for your neighbor’s holiday dinner you’re about to attend. Before the stress sets in and the hustle and bustle of the holiday takes over, you remember that the best gift you can give comes in a bottle you have. After all, the best gifts are the ones you can taste.

Festive, easy, and sure to be loved by even the hostess with the most-est, take a look at our Handbook below to make creating the perfect hostess gift easy and elegant. Most likely, you will already have all of the items mentioned in our handbook at home!

If you would like to gift to a loved one from afar, we have some beautiful gift collections available for purchase. Gift the Classic Collection for the elegant, effortless person in your life, an E-gift card for those who like to choose, or the Estate Collection for the person who likes a little bit of everything.

*PSA: All of the gift items used in our Handbook photos below can be found in our Home Ranch tasting room! If you find yourself in Lodi, stop by the winery for a one-stop gift shop!

Towels are definitely the one thing in your kitchen drawer that you never have too many of. Purchase some cute holiday tea towels to have on hand this season (we’ve even added some of our holiday favorites below!). To wrap the wine, lay the bottle down on top of the towel, and tie a knot around the bottle. Be sure to allow space for the wine label to be seen. If you have any seasonal botanicals such as pine or magnolia, cut off a sprig and stick it inside the towel to add a nice green element to the gift. Not only is this gift cute, but it is practical!

Our Recommendations:

Letters to Santa Tea Towel

Folkulture Kitchen Towels

Tahoe Fair Isle Cotton Tea Towels

Nutcracker Dish Towel

A handwritten, family-adored recipe is something worth treasuring, and most definitely something worth sharing. Purchase some recipe cards to have on hand and simply fill it out with one of your family’s favorite dishes. Not only will your hostess appreciate the sentimental thought, but they will most likely keep it around to try for her next event. Hole punch the corner of the recipe card and tie it around a bottle of wine. BOOM, done! Cute, simple, and thoughtful.

Our Recommendations:

Carmelized Onion Potato Gratin

Brie Mac and Cheese

Wine Braised Short Ribs

Old Fashioned Apple Crisp

Who doesn’t love receiving a nice charcuterie board? As a hostess, the person receiving the gift most likely loves having people over and entertaining for their friends and family. Thus, a host can never have enough serving boards! Find a nice bottle and lay it on top of the board. Tie the wine to the board with a beautiful, festive bow. If you want, pick up some cheese to make the gift extra special!

Our Recommendations:

Ash Wood Serveware Board

Olive Wood Rustic Edge Board

Acacia and Marble Cheese Board

Quincy Composite Agate Cheese Board

This gift is for the lover of all-things Christmas! If you love being creative, this is also a fun gift to give. Find a few unique ornaments for this season and stash them away until you need a gift. With so many different ornaments offered, be sure to find them something they can’t find just anywhere. Whether it be an ornament of their furry little friend or their favorite food, choose something fun that will grab their attention. Hang the ornament around the neck of your favorite bottle of wine and be on your way!
