Our Summertime Essentials
Thursday, June 6th, 2013The kids are out of school and summer is officially here in Lodi! To get you prepared for the pool parties, al fresco dinners on the patio and all of the traditional summer to-dos your calendar is packed with, we’ve put together a list of our “Harney Lane Summertime Essentials.”
At the top of the list -our two ‘poolside’ wines- the newly released 2012 Albarino and 2012 Dry Rose. Both wines are best served chilled… perfect for the warm summer days heading our way!
To keep your wines chilled, we recommend the Corkcicle. We brought this nifty little invention into the tasting room last summer and had a hard time keeping them in stock. They’re awesome. It’s your bottle’s own little ice pack that conveniently fits right inside the bottle!
Chances are, you’ll be outside enjoying your own personal Wine:30, so you’ll need a good, go-to, shatterproof vessel. Enter the govino ‘go anywhere’ glass! These things are fantastic! They appear to be a nice little stemless glass, however they are made of a food-safe, BPA free, polymer, which reflects the wines qualities much like crystal, believe it or not!
We are also recommending our little Harney Lane cheese boards. Perfect for a poolside nosh or to stow in your picnic basket. At $9.95 each, they’re a steal.
Stop in Thursday – Monday 12-5pm for a cool down in the cool tasting room or in the shade of our hundred plus year old Deodora Pine forest.

If you live close to vineyards you will notice that pruning season is in full swing. In fact we have completed about two thirds of our pruning. It always seems like a clean fresh start that I appreciate after the frost has left the vineyards and most of my yard looking a bit beaten. It even inspires me to want to do some Spring Cleaning (now…if I can just find the time). I can’t help but think about how many “fresh starts” our Lizzy James vineyard has seen since 1904. Imagine starting your 106th season. Think how many hands have tended you, think of the weather patterns you’ve seen, think of how many bunches you’ve grown, think of how you are thankful that you weren’t replaced with a young vineyard.
